To Be Real is a booklet of essays about New Queer Cinema published by The Criterion Collection. New Queer Cinema was a movement of independent queer filmmaking in the 1990s. With a range of stylistic directions and genres, New Queer Cinema captures the atmosphere and attitudes of LGBTQ+ voices from the end of the century. This movement of film is often overlooked, so this booklet was created to serve as a source of education, as well as emphasize why these films are historically and personally important. The booklet is professionally bound and contain 5 chapters, and contains 32 pages in total.
-
After researching and refining a collection of essays to represent the movement of New Queer Cinema, hand-drawn typography and shapes were created to reflect the independently created style of New Queer Cinema films.
